I counted points.
I counted calories.
I counted macros.
I restricted foods.
I tried to out-exercise my food choices.
I was that person who was always on a diet to look a certain way. Eating out with friends was torture. I never felt like I was doing enough to achieve my goals. But I never thought about how I wanted to feel. And that was the problem.
Many of us look at ourselves in the mirror and wish we could look like someone on social media. So we try everything under the sun to get that ‘ideal’ body.
How many of these things have you tried?
- Drink apple cider vinegar in the morning because it will blast away the fat.
- Drink 100 oz of water a day to keep you from being hungry.
- Cut out carbs and white food and chips and donuts and all the things with sugar in them.
- Write down every gram of food that you eat including mints so that you don’t gain even a fraction of a pound.
- Hop on the scale after every trip to the bathroom, because you just never know. Every ounce helps.
- And on and on and on…
I did all those things and you know what? I drove myself crazy in the process and ended up feeling deprived and stressed and unhappy over every seeming mistake.
I’ve got news for you.
You don’t have to live that way in order to get healthy. The CONNECT EMPOWER STRENGTHEN journal helps you get healthy by allowing you to trust yourself on this journey. What does that mean? That means no tracking your food, no tracking your workouts to see how many calories you’ve burned, no weighing yourself period, and no comparisons to anyone else or even yourself younger self. You steer the boat each day and make your own choices that will lead you to feel better each day.
How does it work?
To start, you’ll set goals about how you want your body to feel and things that you want to be able to do physically. Then each day, you add in at least one practice, one food item, one exercise or work to get better sleep until you feel the way what you’ve outlined as your goal. At the end of each day, you’ll write about how your day went using journal prompts and you get to set the course for the following day.
You are in control. By connecting nutrition, movement, and rest, you will build the healthy life that you deserve!

"This is the journal the fitness space has been waiting for. What I love so much about this journal is how I don’t have to be tracking a million numbers along the way. It forces me to tune in to how my body FEELS day to day, and divest myself from the importance we put on numbers, whether that’s counting calories, tracking macros, number on the scale or on the barbell. I also enjoyed how it was focused on the “big rocks.” The simplicity helped me complete the journaling every day. It was nice way to reflect, connect to my intrinsic goals, and feel like I was making progress without comparison."

"I love that this journal helps people focus on their whole health. So often we think of health as food and nutrition only, but it's so much more and Julie covers all the bases in this journal. I especially appreciated the focus on things like sleep, self-care, and gratitude."
